1408 movie,written by Stephen King disturbs…

This movie is really a good scare! and i mean a real good scare! it made me scream in the cinema, and that was my first. I never get scared too easily, that’s just me, and if i get scared i will still look at the movie unlike other people who cover half of their face in terror. But this one managed to pull a scream out of me in public!
its a new experience!
That’s why i really think this is a good horror movie, not much blood and gore but this is way creepier than i thought, it haunts me. I never really knew about this 1408 before, my friend just dragged me into watching it. I was trying to save money that time and was having second thoughts if i should go in. The presence of Stephen King’s name in the poster was the biggest reason why i finally forced myself to go in. That’s because i am currently reading one of his old novels “Thinner”. 1408 definitely lifted my respect for King, i am a newbie when it comes to his works, my other friend just let me borrow her Stephen King books and i don’t read them right away i just leave them sleeping in my drawers.

Ok back to the movie…The main actor here is John Cusack and i think he portrayed the role very well. His character is a writer who writes about haunted places, he is like one of those myth-busters that humiliates or prove that those places aren’t haunted at all. Then he got this post-card saying “don’t enter 1408″ as the place was rumored to be haunted and there were cases of 56 deaths happened inside it, and they say nobody lasts for an hour. He then tries to go to this Dolphin Hotel in New York and boldly checked in. When he was finally in the room he thought “this is it?” like he was bored or something. He closed the door and started feeling the room and started some investigation, he has this gadget that detects blood that have dried out and was already aware that strange things really do happen there. The room started to feel hot, he saw this room temperature regulator and it seemed to be broken so he picked up the phone and called for some assistance, the man who came up to help him did not bother to come in the room he just instructed him what to do, he knows the evil lurking in that room. The regulator is fixed and he said thank you but when he looked at the direction of the man, he was gone…he already left. Cusack then closed the door, relaxed a bit, thinking, saying his thoughts to the recorder he brought with him then suddenly…the radio clock bursted a really loud song by the Carpenters “We’ve only Just Begun” (again as it happened earlier already), then the digits of the clock started to go like crazy and suddenly stopped and it seemed that it is giving him a countdown of 60 minutes. An hour, (as he remember nobody lasts for an hour in that room). Afterwards, strange things happen to him inside the room, alone.

ok now i really feel like i am making my own version of the book here…sorry my post is starting to look like a novel. i cant give a quick summary, im bad at it.
But what really started to freak me out in this movie is the scene were he started to realize that he is in danger and tries to seek help from anyone who could hear him, then he saw this man in the window by the other building and started yelling at him for help, he waved both of his hands to get his attention and he did! but the twist here is…that the man seem to imitate his gestures, almost all of the man’s movements are identical to his!!! he couldn’t even see the man’s face, he could only see his outline. The man turned out to be himself!!!!! (omg!!! that moment was disturbingly creepy!!). He now knows that the man by the opposite window is him, his form, then suddenly…an almost balding middle aged man appeared behind this person opposite his window, holding a tool that looks like a small hammer going to strike or stab him! he got this sense that that same middle aged man is also behind him as he knows that he is the same person in the other window. And when he turned around…BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! yes there was that man going to hit him and his face is not of a regular person’s, he looks abnormal, there’s something wrong with his features and i cant explain it! The face of that man was shown really quick so i couldn’t tell.
And that’s where all the terror began for me! i couldn’t forget the image of the middle aged man.
That wasn’t the only scene where i screamed! there were next screams after.
Truly 1408 movie is one of the scariest i’ve seen! more scarier than Japanese horror films! (in my opinion only of course)
I am looking forward to buying the paper form of 1408. I wanna know which one is better! but of course the movie has sounds to scare and the book doesn’t. But we’ll see.
